NORWALK, Conn.— In order to keep current with today’s ever-changing health care environment, International Vision Expo & Conference East is enhancing the scope of its educational offerings to meet new health care demands.

“As the overall health care trade evolves, we are witnessing a variety of changes throughout the eyecare industry, from regulations to clinical practice,” said Tom Loughran, group vice president for Reed Exhibitions. “More than ever before, it is essential that eyecare professionals stay well-informed on these changes and prepare their practices for the future.”

The new Ocular Wellness Program will offer three hours dedicated to the patient wellness initiative supported by key optometric leaders while educating attendees on preventive medicine and quality of life issues arising in all medical fields. The program, supported by Alcon, will walk optometrists through developing a Dry Eye strategy and will cover advanced diagnostic and treatment strategies for the Dry Eye Specialty Practice.

Practices can quickly differentiate themselves from others in the community by attending Expo East’s eight-hour Sports Vision track. The session focuses on training techniques to enhance visual skills in athletes, modern testing of sports-related visual performance, and how to correctly screen, diagnose and manage concussions.

Other medical education highlights for Vision Expo East will include the 16-hour Glaucoma track developed by leading professionals and focused on glaucoma diagnosis and treatment; nine hours of Imaging Technology courses will showcase state-of-the-art imaging equipment and its capabilities in the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular diseases; and Systemic Disease and Neuro will offer 11 hours of focused education to provide the latest in diagnosis and treatments of diabetes, thyroid eye disease, Sjögren's syndrome and many other conditions, as well as strategies for maintaining better systemic control and coordinated care.

International Vision Expo & Conference East will be held March 19 to 22. For more information, visit www.VisionExpoEast.com.
