CRESTON, Iowa—Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) visited Precision Optical Group (POG Labs) here on Aug. 24 on his annual 99-county tour of Iowa.

During his visit, Grassley toured the labs and spoke with POG employees and other local citizens. The 37-year Senate veteran of the Senate answered questions on border control, tax, trade, human trafficking, hate groups, health care, Veteran Affairs (VA), immigration, and mergers, including the pending merger between Luxottica Group and Essilor International.

Grassley said he doesn’t foresee the merger happening anytime soon, since it has yet to receive approvals from international regulatory agencies. However, POG executives reported that Grassley asked them to follow-up with additional information about the merger so he could look at it more closely.

Grassley has made the 99 county stops every year since he was first elected to the Senate in 1980.
