NOVATO, Calif.—Highly admired and greatly respected former director of Human Resources for SOLA Optical USA, Lidia Vargas, passed away on April 9, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.

During her tenure with SOLA, Vargas was instrumental in leading the Petaluma HR team during the company’s rapid growth and expansion. She was also a member of the integration team following the acquisition of American Optical, and the expansion of manufacturing in Mexico. She was remembered by many as a key leader in creating and sustaining the industry-acclaimed culture at SOLA.

After leaving SOLA in 2000, Vargas went on to become director of Human Resources for Fair, Isaac & Company, Inc., Publishers Group West (a division of Advanced Marketing, Inc.), and Multi-fineline Electronics, Inc. (MFLEX). Most recently, she was a senior partner with Aligned Growth Partners, LLC, a global advisory firm to boards of directors and management, where she worked with former SOLA senior executive leaders and long-time friends.

The viewing is today, April 17, from 12:00-3:00 pm at Valley Memorial Park in Novato, 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato, Calif. 94945 and at 5:30 pm at Holy Virgin Cathedral (The Sabor), 6210 Geary Blvd., San Francisco, Calif. 94121 (near 26th Street in the Richmond District).

A funeral Service will be held on April 18 at 10:00 am at Holy Virgin Cathedral (The Sabor), 6210 Geary Blvd., San Francisco, Calif. 94121. Following the service, attendees will gather at Valley Memorial Park in Novato, located at 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato, Calif. 94945, for the burial followed by a reception.
