PARIS—In 2015, Silmo hosted over 1,350 brands in the world of optics. On Friday, Sept. 25 the Silmo d'Or awards were held to honor 10 of those brands at the Maison de la Radio, located at 116 Avenue du Président Kennedy, here.

The 22nd Annual ceremony of the Silmo D’Or once again rewarded the creativity and inventiveness of the entire profession, organizers said. This year's winners were awarded their prize by Emmanuel Gallina, president of the Jury, designer and renowned teacher.

In the Vision Category there were two winners; Essilor with Eyezen and Johnson & Johnson with 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal. In the Material/Equipment Category, Luneau Technology won with Attitude de Briot. In the Low Vision Category, Visiole with Blaez-Ez took the prize. In the Children Category, the Minima with Junior Hybrid frame was selected. In the Optic Frame Category, the Masunaga with GMS-106 frame won the D’Or.

In the Sunglass Category, the W-Eye with Aifir sunglasses won. In the Sport Equipment Category, the Seiko Optical Group with Seiko X Changer took home the statue and in the Frame Technological Innovation Category, the Blackfin with Shark-Lock was singled out. Lastly, the Jury awarded a Special Prize to the FA-087 sunglass frame from Factory 900.

The 48th edition of Silmo was held from Sept. 25 to 28 at the Parc des Expositions Villepinte in North Paris. Four distinct spaces highlighted new fashion trends, technological innovations, progress in the medical field and education. This year over  850 exhibitors were on hand to vie for the attention of the almost 36,000 registered visitors.

Next year, Silmo will be held from Sept. 23 to 26, 2016 at the Parc des Expositions Villepinte in North Paris.
