MEMPHIS, Tenn.— Dr. J. Bart Campbell has been appointed vice president of academic affairs at Southern College of Optometry. Campbell has been serving as interim VP since March 2015.

“Having previously served in this role myself, I know that Dr. Campbell is well-equipped for this position,” said Dr. Lewis Reich, president of SCO. “He has already integrated into this role, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him.”

Campbell has been at SCO since 1988. He formerly served as chair of the department of optometric education, chief of the contact lens service, director of residency programs and director of academic support services.

He received his Doctor of Optometry in 1987 from SCO. He completed a postgraduate residency in contact lens practice at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 1988. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
