ORLANDO, Fla.—Transitions Optical wrapped up its well-attended Academy meeting here last night with the presentation of its Transitions Innovation Awards to retail firms, ECPs and optical networks. Among the award-winners, Dr. Jennifer Lyerly of Triangle Visions Optometry in Raleigh, N.C., received the prestigious Transitions Brand Ambassador award for 2017. “As a Transitions Change Agent in her second year and an optometrist wholly committed to the best for her patients, Dr. Lyerly embodies the spirit of a Transitions Brand Ambassador,” said Drew Smith, director, North America Channels, Transitions Optical.

“She not only takes great care to communicate the benefits of Transitions lenses to her patients, but shows them the authenticity of her commitment by maintaining a vibrant social media presence filled with creative content. We congratulate Dr. Lyerly for this well-deserved win.”

The 2017 Transitions Brand Ambassador finalists included Wade Harbin senior manager, Customer Experience and Innovation at Target Optical and Sears Optical, and Sheena Taff, optician at Roberts & Brown Opticians. The award recognizes individuals for their commitment to advocating for the Transitions brand.

Opto-Reseau, a Canadian network of optical practices, received the Best in Marketing title for 2017 at the awards presentation. Best Marketing finalists included Value Optical of Trinidad and Tobago, and
Vision Source of Kingwood, Texas. The marketing award considers a business’ commitment to strategic marketing of the Transitions brand/family of products.

The Best in Training title for 2017 was awarded to 20/20 Visions of Plymouth, Wis. Finalists for this award included Vision Source, which also was recognized for its commitment to providing education in photochromic lenses and the Transitions brand.

Greiche & Scaff was presented with the 2017 Canadian Retailer of the Year title at last night’s awards event. Other Canadian Retailer of the Year finalists included Costco Optical and New Look Eyewear. They also were recognized for their commitment to the Transitions brand and improving customers’ vision.

Costco Optical was honored with the 2017 U.S. Retailer of the Year title. Other finalists for the U.S. Retailer of the Year award were National Vision Inc. and Visionworks. The award criteria include demonstrated commitment to the Transitions brand and improving patient vision.

Pacific Eye Care
of Port Orchard, Wash., received the 2017 Eyecare Practice of the Year title. Millennium Eye Center of Orlando and Pullen Eyecare of Jacksonville, Fla., were also recognized as finalists in the Eyecare Practice of the Year category for their commitment to promoting healthy sight and support of the Transitions brand.
