Essilor of America Appoints Dr. Millicent Knight to Lead Customer Development Group

DALLAS—Essilor of America has announced that Millicent “Millie” Knight, OD, FAAO, FAARM, will be joining the company later this summer as senior vice president, customer development group and member of the leadership team, reporting to Rick Gadd, incoming president, Essilor of America. In this role, Dr. Knight will be responsible for Essilor of America’s professional relations, communications and eyecare professional and sales training efforts.

“Dr. Knight has a diverse and extensive background in the optical industry, including experience in a hospital-based ophthalmology/optometry practice, two optometric practices and a former member of Vision Source,” Gadd said. “Her rich industry knowledge and deep connections to ECP’s ensures that our customers will continue to have a voice at the highest level of the company.”

Prior to Essilor, Dr. Knight was vice president of professional affairs, North America at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. While there, she served on the North American leadership team where she developed and deployed a competitively differentiated eyecare professional strategy, establishing connections between the company’s strategy and eyecare professionals and industry leaders by building industry affiliations, education platforms and advocacy, the announcement said.

Dr. Knight has consulted for eyecare and health and wellness companies, conducted contact lens and solutions office clinical trials, and lectured on a wide variety of topics including contact lenses, leadership, cultural sensitivity, eye and systemic health, and business and entrepreneurship. She has published numerous articles, and has received wide-ranging industry and academic recognition including “Optometrist of the Year” by both the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Associations, Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical honor, and a Women in Optometry Theia Award for Leadership.

Dr. Knight received her Doctor of Optometry degree and a Bachelor of Science, Visual Science degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College. She served on the board of trustees of both alma maters and has received leadership awards from both institutions.

Versant Health Expands National Sales Team With Three New Regional VPs

LINTHICUM, Md.—Versant Health, the managed eye health and vision plan company formed via the combination of Superior Vision and Davis Vision in 2017, has expanded its sales team with the addition of three regional vice presidents of sales. The new VPs are Tony Giumetti, Tom Koebel and Tom Mays. Each regional vice president of sales is responsible for the management, oversight and strategy of new business commercial sales, including both the Davis Vision and Superior Vision offerings, in his respective region, the announcement noted.

“We are delighted to welcome these three experienced sales professionals to Versant Health,” Versant senior vice president of sales Tom Luchetta said in the announcement. “Our new regional VPs will implement the company’s mission to help members enjoy the wonders of sight through healthy eyes and vision.”

Europa Eyewear Appoints Nico Roseillier as New Creative Director

CHICAGO—Europa Eyewear has named Nicolas “Nico” Roseillier as the company’s creative director, effective July 23. Roseillier brings with him over a decade of experience leading the creative departments of Modo and, most recently, De Rigo REM. He will oversee the brands at Europa including American-made STATE Optical Co. In its announcement, the company said, “Nico’s accolades in design are second only to his reputation for creativity, drive, and being a genuinely nice guy. We have long admired Nico’s work and valued his friendship.”

Not only are we excited to add Nico’s considerable creative talents to our organization, but we think he’ll be a perfect fit and offer a significant contribution to our culture as well.”

Roseillier and his family will be relocating from California to the Chicagoland area soon. “I’m so excited to join the team at Europa and STATE Optical Co.,” he said, adding, “Scott Shapiro and I have followed one another’s paths over the years, and I know our visions align when it comes to independent eyewear.”
