NEW YORK—Vision Expo East attendees have a new option for getting to the Javits Center, courtesy of the New York City Subway System. In September, the City of New York and MTA officials opened the new subway station, the first addition since 1989, at 34th Street and Eleventh Avenue as part of the Hudson Yards redevelopment.

The new station is the only line south of 59th Street to provide service west of Ninth Avenue, offering access to the Javits Center and introducing subway service and fostering transit-oriented development to the emerging, mixed-use community located in Midtown West. The new station also improves service for customers using the No. 7 Subway line in Queens and Manhattan, and provides additional tail tracks that extend to 26th Street to allow for the storage of more trains.

The new station is air tempered and ADA accessible and is the first station to have two high-rise incline elevators, providing access to riders between the upper mezzanine and lower mezzanine, which is 108 feet below street level. Four high-rise escalators were also installed at the station, which also features two vibrant and colorful overhead mosaics.
