ALEXANDRIA, Va.—February is Low Vision Awareness Month and The Vision Council is spotlighting the month through its social media platforms and encouraging ECPs to take part, too. Low vision is the term used to refer to a visual impairment that is not correctable through surgery, pharmaceuticals, glasses or contact lenses. Though The Vision Council’s dedicated Low Vision Division makes awareness a priority year-round, throughout the month of February—and beyond. The Vision Council is committing resources to post and promote low vision messaging, as well as targeting appropriate audiences that might be experiencing low vision themselves or are caregivers seeking more information on the topic.
