NEW ORLEANS—Krewe, the independent eyewear company based here, debuted their newly crafted Krewe Tiny House to coincide with this year’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The Tiny House is getting ready to set out on a cross-country road trip to various festivals and events.

The Krewe Tiny House is a small showroom (154.8 square feet) that was designed as an exact replica of the iconic shotgun home—a symbol of New Orleans’ architecture and Afro-Caribbean lineage. With the outside exuding New Orleans’ style, the interior feels entirely like Krewe, with the welcoming hospitality of the brand’s standalone storefronts in New Orleans and Savannah, Georgia.

“Our goal at Krewe is to take the simple things we love and do them better,” said Stirling Barrett, founder and creative director of Krewe. “The Tiny House movement encourages this idea of living simply and through experiences that enrich our quality of life. Krewe has interpreted this into a non-traditional mobile and retail experience, and we’re excited to reach our customers in a new way, wherever they might be.”

The company is no stranger to providing unique retail experiences. In August 2013, Krewe debuted the custom-built “Krewe Cart” which featured a fully functioning bicycle attached to a lightbox. Stirling and the Cart became staples at New Orleans festivals. The brand later opened a glass cube known as the Sunroom that acted as a part-showroom and by-appointment only store.
