A recommendation from a doctor or retailer is the most frequently cited reason for choosing a particular lens, according to the latest statistics available from The Vision Council's most recent VisionWatch report. Almost one-quarter of the approximately 110,000 American adult consumers responding to The Vision Council's latest VisionWatch survey from Sept. 2013 selected "doctor/retailer recommended" as the most important reason for choosing a particular lens. As the chart below indicates, "looked best," "good price" and "lens wore previously" were the next three most important reasons cited, while "material" was the least cited reason, selected by 6.3 percent of respondents.
