BOCA RATON, Fla.—Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA), the nation’s largest community of independent eyecare professionals, is celebrating the one year anniversary of its collaboration with VSP Vision by announcing record PECAA Max membership, a new lineup of community-based events and virtual CE opportunities, as well as expanded investment in private practice. The VSP Vision Exam Rebate (VER), announced in June and originally scheduled to expire at the end of this year, has been extended through 2024, due to such positive engagement from private practice doctors, PECAA said.

Jonathan Worrall, PECAA president, said, “PECAA has always been devoted to protecting and promoting private practice. When we first joined forces with VSP one year ago, the companies pledged to deliver increased value to PECAA members. Today’s announcements demonstrate our commitment to making good on that promise.

“With the busy fourth quarter almost upon us and patients eager to use their benefits before the end of the year, now is an excellent time to take advantage of the Vision Exam Rebate. And the just-announced extension of the rebate through next year now triples the amount PECAA Max members can earn between now and the end of 2024," Worrall said.

The VER pays a rebate of $5 for every VSP commercial patient exam and now allows PECAA Max members to receive up to an additional $15,000 in 2023 and another $30,000 in 2024, for up to $45,000 total incremental revenue. Payment is made through the PECAA IncentivEYES rebate program, a unique PECAA benefit that rewards members with loyalty rebates on purchases, not just growth.

More than 1,200 PECAA Max members currently participate in the VER, a number that is increasing rapidly. In the first two months of the program alone, nearly $1,500,000 in rebates have been earned.

“Both PECAA and VSP share a vision to support independent practices. This Vision Exam Rebate is a perfect example,” said Rob Grigg, OD, of ClarifEye Family Eyecare in Kuna, Idaho. “It’s quite extraordinary to receive a rebate for managed vision exams, so this is a testament that PECAA and VSP are listening to doctors.” Updated details of this program, which does not include any spending requirements, are found here.

New regional events and continuing education programs will give PECAA’s community of independents unique forums for coming together to foster connections and support one another with shared best practices. Launching this fall, the new regional event series will bring together small groups of doctors for a unique PECAA VIP Member Experience. Inaugural events will occur in October on Catalina Island, California, and in November in Chicago, Illinois, with additional events to be announced in 2024.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, PECAA will present its first-ever live, virtual ABO continuing education event via interactive webinar. Details and registration info is posted here. PECAA will present its final COPE-approved clinical continuing education event of the year on Sunday, Dec. 3, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
